That $90 was so much better spent than on a single standard 750 mL bottle from a non-distiller!Sipp'n Corn®https://www.blogger.com/profile/09589432769591752854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2165862643713953426.post-84095857154751374062015-01-21T18:41:06.505-05:002015-01-21T18:41:06.505-05:00Great point. I just got a case of VOB 86 6-Year Old 1.75s (not the b.s. "6" version) for $90, tax included. I bought the 86 once upon a time and found it not merely less "hot" but also lacking in the deep spice of the BIB. Placebo effect? Maybe. But at VOB's prices, it's a placebo I can well afford.

VOB BIB is now my official utility bourbon. With a splash of water, it's a solid mid-shelf beverage and I'm finding myself reaching past the bottle of Bulleit and the bottle of Knob Creek ... and hefting up the VOB.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2165862643713953426.post-7197400065879398812014-04-16T15:09:28.041-04:002014-04-16T15:09:28.041-04:00Great comment -- thanks! He contacted Sazerac, and was told that "delivering a consistent taste profile is more important than the age statement to our customers," and being tied to age statements meant that they couldn't use barrels that fit the profile, which led to tight inventory. They added that VOB will continue to be 6 years old "for the foreseeable future."Sipp'n Corn®https://www.blogger.com/profile/09589432769591752854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2165862643713953426.post-54667213857772882462014-04-16T08:03:21.281-04:002014-04-16T08:03:21.281-04:00I work part time in my friend's liquor store h...I work part time in my friend's liquor store here in Tulsa. We are consistently steering people to the VOB when they are looking for a bargain. In Oklahoma we only get the 86 proof version though. I was sad to hear that Barton is dropping the actual age statement while still keeping the number "6" on the label. This is deceptive and I cannot approve. I hope the intrinsic quality of the hooch remains intact. Justin Victornoreply@blogger.com
